Samsung’s Nexus Prime: A Verizon Exclusive?

By Lito Carasig - Friday, October 07, 2011

Good old anonymous is at it again (no not the cyber terrorists) and this time he brings glad tidings to all of you Samsung lovers out there. Folks, it’s time to take a look at Samsung’s Nexus Prime!

Samsung Nexus 2011A report posted just a couple of hours ago features a photo of the alleged next BIG THING from Samsung and they’re speculating that it is the currently code-named Nexus Prime, Samsung’s upcoming phone poised to be the next heavyweight contender against Apple’s recently announced iPhone 4S.

If the rumors turn out to be true,  we may be looking at the following specs for Samsung’s next BIG THING: a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display is a sure thing, with Samsung’s own chipset and powered by an extremely fast dual-core Exynos processor running at 1.5GHz.

Not only that, but it should be noted that the new Samsung chipset will have an on-chip dual core graphics processing unit courtesy of Imagination. If you’re not familiar with Imagination, perhaps you will be when I mention that this GPU might be the PowerVR SGX543MP2 which is the same GPU driving the luscious graphics of the iPad 2 and probably the just-outted iPhone 4S.

If that’s not enough to make you salivate, then how about an 8-megapixel back-facing camera capable of full 1080p HD video recording and a much-improved sensor?  What you want more? Well then add to this a 2050mAH battery which should last about two to three days without the need to be recharged.

Of course we expect the Nexus Prime to be LTE-enabled and may also have a dual-mode GSM/CDMA capability similar to the iPhone 4S.

By the way, Samsung have been keeping our imaginations peeked for the last couple of days with its “Something BIG is coming” teaser so perhaps we can probably rest assured that the next Nexus Prime will have these BIG specs (and probably more) if Samsung wants to steal Apple’s thunder.

Not to forget – this may be a Verizon-only release, but you’ll have to stand by for further news on this one since there is no official word on this yet. The BIG DAY – October 11 – is just around the corner and we’ll find out for sure then so be sure to stay stuck to Tech.Massivelinks for all the latest news as it becomes available.
